I’m in favor of a warning label for Google, Bing, and a few other search engines that track their users. Why? Users need to know the dangers that Google’s search poses to their online health. Google tracks users in their free applications. Google tracks users who search online. Google tracks website visitors (except my site, PixoBebo, and all the other Villagers websites). Google tracks many applications users with its Analytics service.
What could Apple do to improve privacy?
Apple could easily place an anti-tracker option in macOS and Safari. The one in macOS would block applications from phoning home (similar to Little Snitch and other apps which block such trackers). The one in Safari could just as easily prevent websites and advertisers from tracking visitors with little more than a one-click button.
Why won’t Apple do that? Privacy is lip service. Money rules. Google pays Apple billions.
